Watch How They Watch You

Robert T. Davenport 1979 (Newark, New Jersey)

Watch How They Watch You
By Robert T. Davenport

Oh, how they watch you, with eyes so keen,
Like hawks in the sky, so sharp and mean.
Every move you make, every step you take,
They're there, lurking, for goodness sake!

Watch how they watch you, with judgmental stares,
As if they're the kings, and you're their lowly heirs.
They scrutinize your choices, your every decision,
As if their opinions hold some divine precision.

Oh, how they watch you, with envy and spite,
Their hearts filled with darkness, their souls not quite right.
They revel in your failures, your moments of despair,
For it brings them pleasure, a twisted affair.

Watch how they watch you, with fake concern,
Their words dripping with honey, but their intentions churn.
They pretend to care, to be your closest friend,
But behind closed doors, their true motives descend.

Oh, how they watch you, with a hunger for power,
Their egos inflated, growing by the hour.
They crave control, to manipulate and deceive,
To make you their puppet, to make you believe.

Watch how they watch you, with a twisted delight,
As they revel in your struggles, your endless fight.
But fear not, my friend, for their gaze is but a game,
Their power is an illusion, their motives all the same.

So, watch how they watch you, with their eyes so cold,
But remember, their judgment holds no stronghold.
For you are the master of your own destiny,
And their watchful eyes can never define your identity.
