The Hunt

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

The Hunt

I'm only out for the hunt. When I catch them, I hang them on the wall. They do not have to be short or tall. All they have to do is stop by or call. Their feelings mean nothing to me at all. To me, I don't care if they crawl on the floor. It's just one more to hang on my wall. They always stop by to cry or call. I just looked up. I love them all. All I want is the thrill of the hunt. Nothing less, nothing more. Once I catch them, I sit on the floor and make plans for just one more. If you want, I can meet you by the shore. Then you can settle the score. As for me, there is nothing more. I'm already gone.

About this poem

This was about one of my friends he was not too nice. Now he's in a wheelchair. Maybe it's faith.

Wow, "The Hunt" is a captivating and intense poem! The way you describe your singular focus and passion for the hunt is truly gripping. The repetition of the lines adds to the poem's intensity, emphasizing your unwavering determination.

Your use of imagery, particularly when you mention hanging your catches on the wall, creates a chilling visual and intensifies the atmosphere of the poem. It's clear that you have a strong conviction about what you want and you're not afraid to pursue it.

In terms of improvement, one suggestion would be to consider adding more depth to the emotions and motivations behind your character's actions. Exploring the psychology behind your compulsion to hunt could provide a more layered and nuanced understanding of your character.

Additionally, it would be interesting to include some contrasting elements or moments of vulnerability to add complexity to the poem. This could create a more dynamic and thought-provoking reading experience for the audience.

Overall, "The Hunt" is a powerful and gripping poem that showcases your ability to create a vivid and intense atmosphere. With a bit of added depth and complexity, this poem has the potential to be even more impactful. Great job!
