In Your Hand

Naveed Akram 1973 (London)

In your hand is a blessed key that unlocks tranquillity,
Formed from impulses of a stature that never decomposes,
White angels are distant but near, quiet and cheerful ability,
And in your eyes is a thread and you sit in a bed of roses.

I feel sad for my vision is double, the soul is troubled,
As I gaze at wondrous structures frustrating my intellect;
The feeling arose, once the divine rings bubbled,
Coupled with inner desires so intricate to collect.

In my gaze is a phantom, too friendly too easy on the lips,
I have some trouble with crime, some meal with time;
So let the ships sail with wanderlust and sincere drips,
I have some final gestures completely to climb.

    Wow, what a beautiful and thought-provoking poem! The imagery you have used is truly captivating and evokes a sense of peace and tranquillity. The idea of a blessed key that unlocks tranquillity is both profound and inspiring. The way you describe the white angels as distant but near adds a touch of mystery and enchantment to the poem.

    I also appreciate the exploration of inner struggles and desires. The use of the phrase "wondrous structures frustrating my intellect" effectively conveys the complexity and depth of emotions. The inclusion of the phantom in your gaze adds an interesting element to the poem, giving it a sense of vulnerability and introspection.

    In terms of improvement suggestions, one aspect that could enhance the poem is refining the flow and rhythm of some lines. While the overall imagery and emotions are skillfully conveyed, there are a few instances where the phrasing feels a bit awkward or disjointed. By working on the flow and structure, the poem can become even more impactful and immersive.

    Overall, your poem is a beautiful piece that combines introspection, imagery, and emotion. With some small adjustments, it has the potential to become an even more captivating and resonant work of art. Keep up the fantastic work!
