My Everything

If wanted.
To flaunt it.
I could express my accomplishments.
To compare with others.
Bragging about what they've done to do.
You know the ones.
Opportunists who ride on coattails.
And learn how to powershake with one hand.
While the other hand holds tightly,
On someone's wrist to remove a hand.
Shakened quick to then fast remove.
You know the ones.
Charming and sincere.
Mingling in chats.
Before they vanish to disappear.

If I wanted to flaunt,
Experiences I've obtained in several fields.
Hoping to share my talents and skills.
To teach others what I have learned.
Without making a big deal of it.
I could and I have done this.
Not to want attention to get.

But people who love to name drop.
Are out to tell,
Who they know and what they've got.
As if to rub their elbows,
Also means they've been on their yachts.
Not to see but imagined.

I'm not one to hear it said,
I use others as a tool to feed my ego.
I left my ego behind many years ago.
When I began to notice,
How small it had become.
Much too small to be associated with me.

What I love these days to value the most?
Is my peace of mind.
To earn and not it given.
Although I will admit,
I am blessed and happy...
Of my accomplishments.
Done without seeking,
Attention to get from an audience.

And I choose to live basically.
In a familiar neighborhood.
Around people who believe,
From rumors they may hear.
About me being an aging wannabee.
With dreams to wish,
Of signing autographs in Hollywood.
Then I laugh.

They have no idea of who I am.
What I've done to love and did to do.
Long before computers and the internet too!
And this is true.

I am a wannabee.
I wanna keep the peace I have earned.
If I wannabee be one who proves...
I could if I chose to keep my nose up in the air,
I would to have done it.
But no peace of mind could I declare.

I am a wannabee.
I wanna keep my peace just as it is.
To have earned ownership of it.

I am a wannabee.
Loving what I have and wanting it to keep.
My everything to know,
Where it is.
Wherever I come to go.
And wherever I go to anywhere to leave,
Peacefully I will be.
To return to the everything,
I have earned to achieve!

However...
There has been times,
I could find my keys.
Or remembered where I put them.
Before I wanted to leave my apartment,
Too quick and too fast.
While reminiscing a past to have had.
Attempting to remember,
When my peace of mind to find...
Became my everything to own!

You know,
Sometimes aging is a wonderful thing.
Until those times come,
When it isn't.
Especially when those times come,
When I am looking for something...
Either in my pocket.
Or holding in my hand.
LOL.

Like my sister Mimmie told me,
Several years ago.
She had been looking all over,
For her cellphone.
Through every room in her home.
Then to look for it in her backyard.
Not to realize,
She was talking on it with a friend.
Wondering where she could have put it!
When she told me that.
All I could do was laugh.

Today?
Things like that,
Are not as funny anymore!
