Mind of my own
Band of Brothers, but only for a time
Graze to survive
Chase to create
Show to Pass down
Content to be king of the woods for a time
Oldness sets in
Time to rest
Year after Year
Final season is here

About this poem

This emotional poem depicts the full life cycle of a wild buck through vivid imagery and poignant phrases. We journey alongside the deer from its youthful wild independence roaming the forest to the satisfaction of ruling the forest and finally reaching old age and the accepting of its own mortality and the end of its journey.
