LOST AT SEA
mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)
What are my eyes trying to say that mouth can not when my prayers have gone unanswered all my lives and I have been a slave to the thoughts that I promised myself that would not have me looking back?
There's a taste on my tongue that I can not explain even though it rain sometimes, and it is getting harder to find a reason to explain why when my feet are getting tired from all of this damn running around. I see another need to feed this hunger in my heart that lights my soul on fire.
What scent do I smell in the air every day and night, like my lovers' sweet perfume? When is it too soon to say goodbye? I'm getting high on this fight for life and getting drunk on everybody's doubt like it was a cheap bottle of wine.
What are my eyes trying to say when they say they know that we have been down every broken highway earning my wings on earth like I did heaven with every word my mouth was afraid to say while questioning if I should abandon ship?
What do I need to touch? What do I need to feel that my eyes and mouth can not speak? How can I know this is the journey I signed up for? I wake up some mornings and feel as if I am lost at sea, then that's when my eyes see a train and a better plan of being not such a simple man.
I am lost at sea as much as I am on land, but I got myself a pocket full of nickels, dimes, and pennies sent from heaven and a handful of seeds and a bunch of time on my side, so I'm going to throw those sons of bitches in the air and watch them grow as the rhythm flows at sea.
