My sanctuary
Nora Elrayes 1986 (Illinois)
I miss having a home, with a kitchen so warm,
Where aromas of love would dance and perform.
A place where memories were cooked, shared, and savored,
A haven of comfort that nothing could waver.
In that kitchen, with walls painted in hues,
Gathered loved ones, old and new.
Laughter echoed amidst the clinking of plates,
As we created feasts, culinary delights.
The fragrant spices, a symphony in the air,
Filling our senses, banishing any despair.
The sizzle and pop of ingredients in the pan,
Creating a symphony only food lovers can understand.
The rhythmic hum of the stove, ablaze with desire,
Igniting passions, fueling the fire.
A sanctuary where recipes whispered in ears,
Secrets retreated, unraveling fears.
From simmering soups to decadent cakes,
We explored tastes, discovering our stakes.
Every meal a story, a piece of our soul,
Nourishing not just bodies, but making us whole.
Countless conversations flowed like melting butter,
As we shared our dreams, seeking solace and utter,
Celebrations and comfort within those four walls,
A place where worries could dissolve and fall.
But life took us on different paths, it seems,
And the kitchen's warmth became distant dreams.
I yearn for that place, where love freely roams,
Where a home is much more than bricks and stones.
Oh, how I miss having a home, with a kitchen of mine,
Where love and nourishment intertwine.
But within me, the memories will forever reside,
Sustaining my soul, as I seek a new place to reside.
