Heart Torn

Nora Elrayes 1986 (Illinois)

In a world of fleeting encounters and temporary flames,
I yearn for a love that basks in eternal flames.
Beyond mere intimacy, I seek a romance that's profound,
Where passion takes precedence over lust's surround.

I crave a connection where understanding truly thrives,
Where words are not empty promises but meaningful lives.
I long for a love that weathers every storm,
A bond that strengthens when days are gray, not worn.

But alas, you say my heart is scorned,
And so, a breaking hurtful poem shall be formed.
Like shards of glass, my soul is pierced,
By a love that's faded, and its fire dispersed.

In your absence, my nights are now cold and bare,
With no comfort to hold, no solace to share.
The memories we made, now haunt my darkest dreams,
A cruel reminder of a love that tore at the seams.

Each day, I search for a love so true,
To mend this heart that once belonged to you.
But where do I find someone who truly cares?
To hold me tight when life's burdens declare.

Though I wander through the shadows of despair,
The scent of love's perfume still fills the air.
I seek among the ruins, a love that's pure,
A soulmate who'll endure, steadfast and sure.

So if you see me now, broken and torn,
Know that my heart still yearns for love reborn.
And though I've been scorched by a love now gone,
I won't lose hope, I'll carry on, and find my one.
