SCORCH EARTH

SCORCH EARTH
Umbrella of boughs hid me
Cushioning torrential liquid ether From the heavens; contrition for our depravity?
Who knows!
Earth grumbles over our ungodly Mix of dew and mist deprived As the sky drowns with gulped liquid gases Of man's depravity and earth due deprived.
Turpitude and consequences Of quest to know by probe.
Naked we traversed this land
Soaked in thermal cauldrons
Baking in torrential fire drops from the sky Over and under echoing noise
In pin-prick-caresses,
Moisturized to dehydrate We are restless in the morning sun.
Disparate times past, present in absence With eerie whispering sweet troubling air Mango trees canopied in seeming bliss As gentle leaves on invisible wings
Fan secretive lovers into dreamy sleep slumber.
Now like prisoners in concrete tombs caged Loveless, listless, in agitated stress Under sky amber response, to hidden intents: Lifetime bed mates of our time In scorched earth;
