The Story Behind My Poetry

I don't write for fame.
I don't write for money.
I don't even write to be accepted.

I don't care if I please a crowd,
Or if I'm hated worldwide.

I write to reflect my thoughts.
I write to reflect my feelings.
I write to embrace my past,
And to express who I am.

I write to spread hope.
I write to show people in need
That they aren't alone.

I only desire to help people,
And to help them see
That someone can relate.

I often read my own poems
To remind myself of my inner strength,
And to remember that I'm not fully alone,
Even when nobody else is there.

Poetry, as I see it,
Is not intended for crowd-pleasing,
Acceptance,
Fame,
Or even money.

Poetry, in my opinion,
Should carry a message.

Mine is that you're not alone,
That life will get rough,
But those trials you're put through,
Also called your struggles,
Are just tests of how strong you really are.

Do not give up,
You are stronger than you think,
You are stronger than your pain,
And if you keep that mindset,
You will have all you need.

I've had a rough past, and I'm always stressed, so I use my poetry as an outlet for my stress. I'm always thinking about a lot, so my poems help me, and I hope they'll help others too! more…
