Inner Thoughts of a Lone Wolf

Angelina D. Miles 2008 (Arkansas)

I'm a lone wolf,
Always have been,
Always will be.

I don't need anyone,
As help is simply a luxury.

I'd rather handle my own troubles,
As I've always been in my own bubble.
I like to be alone,
So I can't be used,
So I can't be abused.

My memories drag me down,
And my fears make me feel depressed.
I'm always stressed,
And I need to lift these struggles
Off my chest.

I try to keep my life at a steady pace,
But it's hard to find an ace,
When first impressions
Ruin your self-expressions.

I'm always busy,
Wrestling with my thoughts,
But how can I stop this folly,
When remedies I know not?

Therapy pressures me
To remember things
I don't want to see or believe.
I won't let them break me
At the seams that keep me
From falling apart,
When all I have is this wounded heart.

My scars make me strong,
And no bars can keep me
From saying what I see.

When I see me,
I don't see a girl who deserves pity.
When I see me,
I see a girl who is stronger
Than she once was.
I see a true fighter,
Who can spark a fire
Without a lighter.
