Cloud 9 in Hell
You walked by me today,
But it wasn’t you
You smelled the same as always,
But it wasn’t you
you walked by me, I picked up on the fragrance,
my heart swelled and sunk
And it sang with a particular cadence
It sang high heavenly notes
But from the bottom of a cold dark well
One singular breeze
Had put me under a spell
Someone was wearing your cologne
My nose has been trained
It brought back heavenly moments,
It brought back unnerving pain
We could have never worked,
I know that to be true
But that doesn’t change the memories,
& how nothing could change you
You walked by me today
And I’m glad it wasn’t you
You are no longer my world,
You are in my rear view
About this poem
