What if

If today I found out I had cancer
Who would I tell
Who wants to know
Who gives a damn

I don’t want any sympothy
No fake cry’s of pain
I know where I’ve been
And who’s been there with me

Why do I need casual friends now
Or did I need them at all
The pleasure of popularity
Means nothing to me now

I think if I have just one
One true friend through it all
I would know peace
Know that I mattered

Fight it I will
But on my terms
And if it beats me
My true friends will know

About this poem

Cancer affects us all. What if it happened to you. Who would really be there for you.
