Still that child

The days have come and gone
With only memories of my past
As my childhood seemed to fade away
And carefree days don’t seem to last

The wrinkles became more noticed
My hair turned grey to white
My eyes began to thin
No matter how hard I try...

The path of little sorrow

It was dusk to early morning
When I first felt the alarm
As we searched for words unspoken
When you touched me on the arm

We have passed our last horizon
I have no more tears to shed
Draw the shades down on the window
Put this old man...

New Moment, New Year

A moment flashes by
And did We notice it was gone
They pass at quantum speed
Not recognizing one from the other

Congregating as memories
We cherish them good or bad
Into days months and years
Scrutinized Harshly

As new moments are...

Little Pecks

That little kiss in the morning
It may be just a peck
Another in the evening
Gives me goosebumps on my neck

It may be just that simple
That you love me everyday
Cause a peck is worth a million
Signs of love you send my way

I’d be lost...

Fair thee well my southern land
Home of old
Not much left of her
But memories of what once was

Vacant lots where chapels stood
Left barren and flat
Broken brick and glass
Are now their foundation

Bustling streets can be seen
In books...

This poem carries the theme very well. It continues to make colorful and creative rhythms until it wraps up nicely in the end. Very nicely done.

The rhythm and thought stayed consistent throughout. I could follow the feelings being portrayed. A heartfelt poem. Good writing

Thank you for taking time to look up my hometown and share your thoughts with me. Seldom do people care as much as you. Means a lot.
I’ve watched the determination over the years. The people are wonderful and it truly breaks my heart. I shared this poem with them and it tears at their hearts. They love it as much as me. Cairo will always be my home.
