Misfit Me

Lloyd G. Cresci 1956 (California)

Many lonely years ago,
I set my mind to try,
To find a friendly place to be,
But I always failed to fly.

I never did quite lift off,
Into the lofty sky,
‘cause there never was a ray of hope,
And that brought water to my eye.

I cast away the shyness mine,
and mingled here and there,
But no matter how I tried,
My life was always bare.

As for every one I’ve ever known,
They always went away,
Yes, some stayed a little while,
But they’re all gone today.

I should give up and disappear,
And I’d do that today,
If not for all the trouble,
That would surely come my way.

About this poem

It was an off day, but things will improve soon I'm sure.
