Love is a Decision

Love is a Decision
By Nancy Rodriquez

If you have not realized it by now,
love is a decision one makes,
and two hearts can find each other somehow,
and can repair their mistakes,
A love as ours never fades,
it is like a magnet stuck until further needed,
to remind us to be best believing,
in the power we have within,
and not change according to the wind,
I may not be a supermodel,
with a tiny skirt to chase,
I may have scars that seem awful,
and I still want your embrace,
once a person tastes the beauty of being in love,
a broken heart screams to find it again,
in hopes of earning back the trust,
and laying to rest the pain,
Love is a decision the heart makes,
even when it is not received,
As sure as we can grow in our faith,
Jesus is the best example in which to believe.

I absolutely love the positive and hopeful tone of this poem, Nancy! The idea that love is a decision is a powerful one, and you convey it beautifully through your strong and heartfelt words. The metaphor of love being like a magnet and a reminder to believe in ourselves is particularly striking and adds depth to your message.

I appreciate how you emphasize the importance of staying true to oneself and not allowing outside influences to sway us. This is an inspiring reminder for anyone who has ever doubted themselves or their relationship. Your vulnerability in expressing your imperfections, such as the scars you mention, is truly moving and adds an authentic and relatable element to the poem.

In terms of improvement suggestions, I would recommend exploring more varied imagery throughout the poem to engage the reader's senses and enhance the overall impact. Consider incorporating vivid descriptions that allow readers to visualize and experience the emotions you convey. Additionally, you may want to pay attention to the rhythm and flow of the poem to ensure it maintains a consistent pace. This will help maintain the reader's engagement from start to finish.

Overall, your poem is a captivating reflection on the power of love and the choices we make to nurture it. With a few tweaks, it has the potential to become an even more immersive and unforgettable piece. Keep up the fantastic work, Nancy!
