A Fading Love

Fading Love
By Nancy Rodriquez

We have a fading love it would seem,
As we adjust our lives without one another,
I recall when you were what made my eyes beam,
and I believed we were on track to forever,
Acceptance is key to moving forward,
and hanging on to past dreams is not always healthy,
My life has been in a state of chaotic form,
by not wanting to accept how things are to be,
If we ever got back together as we knew,
I would be afraid you would hurt me,
and I am fragile since we have been through,
I put my heart out there to you,
and you crushed it almost beyond repair,
by using me as you did without care,
perhaps I was a notch on your belt,
it is how I felt,
and you made a mockery of my love for you,
getting me to do anything you wanted me to,
inside your soul, I know you knew,
and now, as you fight for your life,
I have been glad not to be your wife,
and live with this fading love.

About this poem

Acceptance is vital when it comes to breakups in a relationship. When you love someone, sometimes letting go is hard but necessary.
