Beach Song

It’s a note in a bottle
That brushes ashore
When the the Sun kisses the sea
And the Umbrellas and Towels are no more

When my time comes to sing
My lungs fill with salt
There’s a tune i want to bring
But I can’t quite exalt

There’s a rough chunk of sand
I hold in my hand
Every color
Every emotion

Reach my hands to the sky
Watch every grain fly
As I listen to the ocean

There’s an ocean of dollars
That die to be seen
It is only in death
They are white and pristine

When my time comes to stand
I’m weighed down by the sand
Bags that tie around my back
And my shoulders and hands

There’s a soft chunk of sand
I hold in my hand
Fine and grated
One emotion

Reach my hands to the sky
Watch every grain fly
As I listen to the ocean

A fine line separates
The sky and the sea
The blue perpetuates
As the earth sings to me

Someday we’ll be gone
And the world will go on
Every rock must return to the shore

The blue green tide will go in
And the green blue tide will go out
But will never be the same as before

There’s a small grain of sand
I hold in my hand
It’s special
It’s one for me

Reach my hands to the sky
Watch this lonely grain fly
As I listen to the sea
