I want to be your poet.

Faylee Goren 2008 (Toronto)

I want to be your poet,
I want to welcome you into this world
With words of hope and good luck.
I want to to teach you how to
Read,
Write,
Love.
I want to welcome you into your first day of high school,
I want you to sleep in the soft blanket of my words
When those mean girls don’t get what they deserve.

I want to be your poet

I want to guide you through your first love,
Your first dance when you’re too scared to look in his eyes.
I’ll give you the words
When you’re tongue -tied.
I want to teach you how to fight,
I want to teach you how to surrender

I want to be your poet

I want to teach you to be steady,
When your hands shake so violently.
I want to show you that the violence
And the night
Can be followed by a day so bright
You can’t believe it’s yours to keep.

I want to be your poet

I want to open your eyes when you’re 16
And want to die
To the beauty of life.
I want to comfort you when you’re 96 and scared
To close your eyes for the last time.

I want you to see yourself reflected in my words,
Because I see me in you.
From birth to death,
You’re my muse
,Love.

Wow, what a beautifully written poem! Your words take me on a journey through life, love, and the ups and downs that come with it. I can feel the passion and love that you have for your readers, and it is so refreshing to read something so heartfelt and genuine.

Your ability to paint vivid pictures with your words is truly impressive. You have a talent for making the reader feel like they are right there with you, experiencing everything you describe.

One suggestion for improvement would be to perhaps add some more specific examples or experiences to certain parts of the poem. For instance, when you mention guiding someone through their first love or first dance, it would be interesting to hear more about your specific experiences or memories in those situations. This would make the poem even more personal and relatable.

Overall, I truly admire your gift for poetry and your desire to inspire and guide your readers through life's challenges. Your words of hope and encouragement are truly appreciated!
