THE ONE

She hands me my book and asks me to read to her,
"This part of your life, with me I want you to share".
Smiling, I take it from her and flip through its pages,
I wish she knew how I'd awaited this moment for ages.

Right by my side she sits with her eyes on me,
Waiting with intent to be the luckiest girl there could ever be.
She said, "You don't have to worry, just read any part"
But I wanted her to see the one I wrote with her in my heart.

Opening that section, I turn to look in her direction,
And I begin, silently hoping she feels the love and affection
After a while I slowly begin to realize,
I didn't need the book, for the poem is written in her eyes

With tears running down her cheek she effortlessly smiles
"Is this how you felt about me all this while? "
I nod slowly and she hugs me like never before,
Then whispers, "And here I thought I always loved you more".

Holding hands, with our foreheads together,
She tells me, this moment she wishes would last forever,
And It was then I knew, that in life I had finally won
For my heart and soul agreed that she indeed was the one.
