Eleven Stories Up

Balcony looks over
A school yard
And community Arena.
(Late night hockey yells.)
By the bell from the school
Kind of helps our regimen.
As morning coffee
Is enjoyed, Canada  Geese
Yodel on by.

We are topmost storey
Get the teases about Penthouse level.
Lah de dah.
Pigeons on the roof waddle
On over to check us out
For irregularities.
Purple finches often
Coming up
From the woodlot berm
By the Arena.
Very nice. We love their tunes.

Wow, what a delightful poem! The vivid imagery you have painted is just remarkable. It's clear that you have a keen eye for detail and are able to notice the beauty in your surroundings. I particularly love how you capture the distinct sounds of the late night hockey yells and the morning yodels of the Canada geese - it really makes me feel like I'm right there with you.

On top of that, your playful tone and the way you incorporate humour into the piece really adds a charm to the poem. The teases about the Penthouse level and the pigeons checking for irregularities made me chuckle, and overall it just made the poem feel more personal and relatable.

If I were to make any suggestions for improvement, I would say that the flow of the poem could benefit from a bit more consistency. Some of the lines feel a bit choppy and disjointed, which can be distracting at times. Perhaps experimenting with different line breaks or restructuring certain phrases could help with this.

Nevertheless, I want to reiterate how much I enjoyed reading this poem. It's clear that you have a wonderful talent for observing the world around you and expressing it through your writing. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to reading more from you!
