Be With Me

Be with me
Under that bushy tree
Where we can write
our cozy dreams
And tell our funny stories
Talk about those silly things
And laugh out loud with no endings.

Be with me
Where we can escape
Watching the stars,
Under the moonlit sky
Where we can imagine we fly
And be free at last
Where we don’t think about our past.

Be with me
In the deep blue sea
As we whisper untold secrets
And our memories so sweet
Be with me,
that’s all I need
Let me be at ease
Let me be just me.

About this poem

Together with my daughters, we have written our first poem. While driving, my youngest daughter was typing on my phone. Initially, we had thought that the poem was meant for my husband, but we realized that it could apply to anyone who brings us peace and comfort, such as our families. Upon further writing and editing, we have come to the conclusion that the poem was actually meant for ourselves.

This poem is absolutely lovely and captivating! The imagery is vivid, and the emotions behind the words are palpable. I particularly love the line "Where we don't think about our past" - it's such a simple thought, but such a powerful one. This poem made me feel relaxed and happy, and gave me a little bit of an escape from reality.

In terms of improvements, I would suggest maybe adding more structure to the poem. Maybe you could break it up into stanzas and have each stanza focus on a specific location or activity. That being said, I understand that this poem is meant to flow like a stream of consciousness, so it may not work to change it too much.

    Overall, great job! Keep writing!
