Disappointment

Where is that urge
That sprang me to action
That showed me glamourized colours
Of success and hope;
Of ideal images
Of achievement,
Of brilliant success
And glory?

Where is that urge
Of meritorious pursuits
Of idealised visions
Of elevated enthronement,
At the pyramid of success
At the apogee of achievement?

Where is that urge
That kindled my spirit
With zeal
With enthusiasm,
That propelled me
Into the wind of danger
That sailed me into
The sea of catastrophe?

Where is that urge
That thrusted me into battle?
Are you still glowing
To thrust me on?
Will you still precipitate
Till I achieve my aim
My desire?

Or, will you abandon me
Halfway like a sheep
Without a shepherd,
Abandoned in open Savannah,
To pine away
In disappointment?

Or, will you lead me on
Till the end of the road?
To achievement
To attainment
To glory
To satisfaction
To jubilliation
And all?

About this poem

There are times when we abandon things we earnestly started for lack of zeal to continue, after the propelling zeal vanishes.
