Endless Life

Have you pondered
how a grain of rice
left on the ground
will germinate
sprout
and grow
into a stalk of rice plant
that will bear fruit?

Or, how a seed of maize
planted in the soil
will germinate,
sprout, and grow
into a stalk of corn
that will bear fruit?

Or, how an egg
will hatch into a chick
which will grow
into a hen
that will lay further eggs?

Or, how a stick of cassava
just pushed into the earth
will grow forth roots
which will grow into tubers
that will produce food
for mankind?

About this poem

Nature is an enigima which man cannot fathom. Conception and birth is still a mystery, even though science always has quick answers to every puzzle. Nature still remains a mystery beyond human knowledge
