Rewards Of The Arrogant

    


Few years ago, they landed
Full of evil plans, plots and eagerness
Went about laying foundations
They set traps and dug ditches.


They are too sure of their success
Their reputation precedes them
They are the alpha and the omegas
You are clean or dirty if they say so.


No one has ever withstood onslaught
Never been need for contingency plans
They have reasons for carelessness
All the powers that be are behind them.


But they forgot one important lesson
Never to be 100% sure of anything
 But arrogance can be something else
It attacks and clouds sound reasoning.


As they went on offensive, the
 first of a million surprises strike
Loopholes were many and blames apportioned.
The second offensive ended as the first.


Doubt, fear, and scrambles took over
Today, the third year and still going
They are still at it with humbled zeal
Respect and due process are reluctantly recognized
