Marian Lawan

I don’t have the statistics
The percentage of the healthy
I know not. We are all just winging
It. The reality is that many are just

Walking dead, pushing it each day
To the severing point, eyeing the
Fall each day. We came as a visitor
Return we all owe.

Pay we must do head or tail
The choice we don’t have
A say in the issue even though
We wrongly assume the opposite.

When the time comes and comes it
Must, we fade like those before us
Only the wise of the mind knew this
Fact and keep it as a barometer for

Their daily actions, anchor their
Daily actions are based on,
Temporary our visit here are
True wise knew all these and

That and wise we must all be.
Imagine the irony of it all
Student collapsing to death after
Final exam. Did she come as what?

Guinea pig?- that role she has played
Well and rest is for the living to comprehend and that is a debate we
Owe to her and those that sent her.

May she also make the best result
In the exam that matters most, may gatekeepers never tarry in opening
The gates for her as her glory.

Candle in the wind for us here
Solid rock for those that sent her
For our good. Adieu is all we have
For her. That we are delivering Maryam.

About this poem

One beautiful girl just dropped dead after her final exam in college. I daw the irony of waiting for final paper before being taken.
