I FELL IN LOVE TODAY

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

What a great surprise I had when I opened my well-rested mind and eyes. SHH, can you, my sweet lines, keep my very new, never worn secret? I fell in love today, not the kind that you read or see in the movies or the kind that has you crying your heart out, or the kind that you want to shout to the world about.

The beat of the drums is loud; the rhythm brings me the sound of the love I found today. I do not know how to explain it, and I know these waves are not faking it because I can only see this when I refuse to sit back and play blind.

Oh, this love that I am so passionately talking about now is my love for myself and everything that was always there. Yes, I knew how to see them but never learned how to appreciate the true beauty of what I am now looking at, and now that I do, I feel every damn thing without no longer holding my breath, waiting for them to fade away; I fell in love today.
