Friends

Friends are like trees.
There are some who are the leaves,
And some who are the branches,
But rarely the roots.

Friends who are leaves tend to change as the seasons change,
Find a way to let go of those who are leaves.
Friends who are branches appear to be strong, and loyal,
They promise they will hold everything together,
But they break the moment you mess up.
Friends who are roots are the rare ones,
They are the ones you keep.

Even though there are thousands of leaves,
And many branches,
There are only a few roots that hold it all together.

People will see it as a full tree.
People won’t know who your leaves are,
Or your branches,
And clearly not your roots.
