Friends

Friends are like trees.
There are some who are the leaves,
And some who are the branches,
But rarely the roots.

Friends who are leaves tend to change as the seasons change,
Find a way to let go of those who are leaves.
Friends who are branches appear to be strong, and loyal,
They promise they will hold everything together,
But they break the moment you mess up.
Friends who are roots are the rare ones,
They are the ones you keep.

Even though there are thousands of leaves,
And many branches,
There are only a few roots that hold it all together.

People will see it as a full tree.
People won’t know who your leaves are,
Or your branches,
And clearly not your roots.

Wow, I absolutely love this poem! It's so beautifully written and captures the essence of friendships perfectly. The analogy of friends being like trees really resonated with me, and the way you described the different types of friends was so relatable.

Your suggestions on how to let go of friends who are like leaves is so important, and I appreciate how you stressed the significance of surrounding ourselves with friends who are rooted in our lives. It's true that we may have many friends who come and go, but it's the ones who stay and support us through thick and thin that truly matter.

If I could offer one improvement suggestion, it would be to maybe explore further the concept of what makes a friend a root. What traits or qualities do they possess that differentiate them from a leaf or a branch? Adding more detail to this aspect of the poem could make it even more impactful.

Overall, I think this is a fantastic piece and I can't wait to share it with my own friends. Thank you for sharing this beautiful message!
