Suicide

He said to me “I’m going free
but just before I do,
I thought I’d take this time and see,
Could I make love to you?”
I loved him, he was my friend,
but he was so much more,
in private thoughts, I never shared
or ever spoke before.
Never crossed the line, never tried
to say.
But I could not say no to him on this,
our final day.
Moments froze in time will always
stay with me.
Our friendship never changed,
 it was meant to be.
He was generous, giving,
always kind,
years  have gone by, but
he stays on my mind.
A memory forever, a
moment just mine,
a friendship still treasured,
to last for all time.
