Drip

Adjekawen A. Jeremiah 1998 (Delta State, Nigeria)

The sweetness of your words as it drips
Sweetens the content of my head,
It drips like honeycomb squeezed
It makes sugar ants gather around my head.

The smoothness of your touch may injure
But the ointment on your lips can soothe a broken soul;
There is this fire in my belly it conjure
It consumes me whole.

Turn your eyes away from me, please
Turn your eyes away from me,
Every glance strikes my heart with a lightning bolt
And I am scorched by your heat;
But if you move away from me
I fear my world might be too cold.
