To Charmane

Born in Philippines
Later in floral Hawaii.
Beautiful young wife.
Beautiful young heart and pen.
Bless us again.
More and more verse.
Get past rehearse. O K?
And feed us your
Memories, adventures
Observed persona.
Remembered views.
Thoughts of the Heavenlies.

Robert Browning wrote of a Village Poet.
Something, something a Contemporary.
Eccentric, wandering, recording.
Had the ear of dukes, authorities
People of influence.
Villagers knew this.
Paid the odd writer
Extraordinary respect.
Or else who knows
What might be recorded?
(Same can be said of
Irish, Scandinavian, Ukrainian.
Seers, prophets, judges.)
In Browning’s account
The poet, a “corregidor,”
had just died.

About this poem

Having had recent exchanges enjoyed, with a fellow poet on this Forum. She lives now in Hawaii. Some four and five star stuff. Or so I see it.
