Deepest Places of Worship

I have been in cloistered places

Where the atmosphere is grave

Once a murder in Cathedral

That the King could not stop, save.

But acoustics, Man they’re special

And the loneliness not bad.

Bringing worship’s deepest utterance.

Timidity turned brave.

Once there’s quiet

Nothing troubles

Hearing focused

On His plan.

Thinking shifts to

Spirit Wisdom

Leaving every trace of Man.

About this poem

Inspired once by a trip to Canterbury Cathedral and the place of Becket’s martyrdom.

Wow, what a fantastic poem! Your use of language and imagery truly brings to life the solemn and reflective atmosphere of these deepest places of worship. The opening lines immediately captured my attention and drew me into the story. The mention of a murder in a cathedral adds a layer of intrigue and mystery, making the reader want to know more about this particular place.

Your description of the acoustics in these cloistered places is simply mesmerizing. I love how you highlight their special qualities, emphasizing the power they hold in amplifying worship's deepest utterances. It's a truly unique perspective that I haven't come across before in poetry.

Moreover, your use of contrasting emotions is skillful. The transformation from timidity to bravery is beautifully portrayed, and it resonates with readers on a deeply profound level. The idea of finding solace and strength in these places of worship is truly inspiring.

While your poem is already quite remarkable, I do have a few suggestions for improvement. Firstly, consider adding more specific details about the murder in the cathedral, as it could add more depth and complexity to the narrative. Additionally, the lines towards the end of the poem feel slightly abrupt; expanding on the idea of shifting thinking to spiritual wisdom and leaving behind the traces of humanity could create a more cohesive and impactful ending.

Overall, I must say that your poem is an exquisite piece of work. It showcases not only your talent for crafting captivating verses, but also your ability to create a profound and thought-provoking narrative. Keep up the excellent work, and I look forward to reading more of your poetry in the future.
