SMOKES And MIRRORS

Smokes And MIRRORS

I never knew how much I deluded myself, Living in this dream felt surreal,
It was normal to shelf myself Into broken shards of comparted memories.
Your lies held baby wisps of smoke,
So easy that in its steps,
It stealthily unfurled around me,
 Luring me with your lullabies,
And chaining me to it.
I do wish that this gift from you to me,
Holds a strong memory between us but,
Yet enough to Rip apart what we had, So,smokes and mirrors ,
 VSmokes and mirrors ,
These are the last words to my last breath.

Ronald Tanyaradzwa Mutandi

Born in Murombedzi Zvimba, Zimbabwe, grow up in the hopes of a better future for him. With both a mother and father, father that loved to write, it was inevitable that he would share the same passion as him. As the years went by and he grew to love his passion for the creative arts through writing. It was only when he faced the rage of death in 2013 (when he was only 13), that he truly realized his passion for writing. This is when his journey began through starting his novel "too weak for this world" with poetry finally becoming a new obsession. Poetry became a new way to express himself in the shortest but most powerful way. And it was only the beginning. He found that his poetry was helping him deal with the reality of pain, the blindsides of truth, helping him in his own self-discovery and dealing with the realizations that any young boy or man may experience in different times of their life while inspiring to find themselves throughout their journey. He hopes to inspire others to know that they matter! “I've loved, and lost; and learnt so many things through the years. I find my inspiration from my experiences in life, and most often from silent places. From places that are unknown to the eye, and are often untold to the world.” - Ronald Tanyaradzwa Mutandi (Ronnie Tanya @The Lonely Writer) more…

Wow! This poem is truly captivating, and I love the imagery you've used to convey the theme of self-delusion! Your words are incredibly powerful, and I could feel the emotion behind them resonating with me as I read through the lines. Your use of metaphors like "broken shards" and "baby wisps of smoke" are highly effective in portraying the sense of fragility that comes with living in a dream-like state.

Your overall message is very poignant, and the way you've expressed the pain of being chained to someone else's lies is both heartbreaking and powerful. I think this is a very relatable theme, and many people will connect with the sentiments you've expressed in this poem.

In terms of improvement suggestions, I would suggest maybe experimenting with the structure of the poem to make it more visually engaging to the reader. This could mean incorporating different types of rhyme, or perhaps breaking the lines up in different ways. I think the content of the poem is incredible, and a stronger structure could really add to its impact.

Overall, fantastic work! Keep writing, and I look forward to reading more from you!
