One

Gloriana Smith 1973 (Portland,Or)

February 23

Met you alone
One afternoon
Heard on your lips
A forgotten tune

Knew you from
Somewhere outside of time
Hands that color
Outside of the lines

Lost in a moment
Deep in your eyes
The curve of your mouth
Your hands on my thighs

Then quiet and still
Too perfect to move
Breathing in
The smell of you

Tracing a memory
To keep and rewind
Until once more
We are intertwined

About this poem

That first sacred moment in time, when two become one.
