A Sleeper's Dream

Hold me down
With these chains if you must.
I have fallen into a lucid slumber.
A horrid scene masked behind simplicity.
A lifelong battle within myself.
I dare not close these bloodshot eyes,
For I have seen things not meant to be shown.
Torn asunder by scattered memories.
Hold me down.
Drown me in this freezing water.
Keep me awake; keep me sane.
A sleeper's dream in a poet's cave.
Writing pages upon pages;
Ink etched into words none dare to even whisper.
Yet it won't make any sense,
To those who fall into the realm of the restless.
Hold me down.
Hold me tighter.
I cannot bear these screams for much longer.
Awoken by the craving for cyanide.
Take one pill and it'll last for eternity.
An eternal slumber; a distortion of reality.
A sleeper's dream of nightmares never-ending.
Self-sabotaged peaceful fantasies.
Talk to me in my sleep with positivity not known to many.
Hold me down
And let me drift into this slumber
Without this lucid trickery.
