Losing Faith

Eileen Goldberg 1950 (Brooklyn)

Losing you is hard to face
Here alone in this lonely place.
Our dreams and plans will not
         Come true.
It hurts to think I’m losing you.
I ask myself the question why,
You shut me down, didn’t want
          to try
To work it out, to fix the tear,
          my life has changed, you
         don’t want to be there.
         I won’t forget the things
         We’ve said, I won’t forget
         The plans.
          they’ll stay in my heart
          though we are apart
I’ll do the best I can.
           It’s not the same, never
           will be.
           Can’t stop loving you,
            A truth you can’t see.

This poem is truly touching and captures the raw emotions of losing someone you love. The heartfelt words and sincere tone make it clear how much the speaker is hurting. The use of repetition and vivid imagery help to create a strong emotional impact.

As for improvement suggestions, perhaps incorporating more rhyming or rhythmic structure could add an even greater depth to the poem. Additionally, exploring and expanding upon the reason for the separation could further enhance the relatability and impact of the message.

Overall, this poem is a beautiful expression of love and loss. The author's vulnerability and honesty are deeply appreciated, and it is clear that they have poured their heart and soul into these words.
