The Wah Umkhrah Rejuvenation

Oh Umkhrah, once a river pure and bright
Filled with childhood memories of delight
But now a hell, a curse upon our land
A victim of the sins of human hand

Your waters once flowed clear, a paradise
For broken souls and those in need of vice
But now, a graveyard of decay and waste
A symbol of our disregard for grace

Your banks now littered with plastic and bone
A foul stench hangs upon your every stone
The once beautiful Umiam lake now marred
By our negligence, our disregard

The filth of Shilong and the villages above
Have turned your waters into a river of love
And yet we curse your beauty and your might
As if our own sins are not the cause of blight

Let the gods above and around us hear
Our plea for forgiveness, our plea for a clear
Umkhrah, our beloved river once more
May we treat you with the reverence you bore

For we are but mere mortals, frail and weak
In the face of nature's wrath, we are meek
May we learn from our past, from the greats
Of Shakespeare, Shelley, and Wordsworth's fates

Their words of beauty, of love and of loss
Are a testament to the power of the cross
Of art and nature, of life and of death
A reminder of our own fleeting breath

Let us not forget the lessons they taught
Of the beauty and the power that nature wrought
May we strive to protect and to preserve
Our Umkhrah river, our Umiam lake to serve

For in the end, it is our own fate
That rests upon the beauty we create
Let us not curse what we cannot control
But cherish, protect, and make whole.

May the generations to come, behold
The beauty of Umkhrah, that we once told
Of its pristine waters, its lush banks
Of the moments of joy that it once sank

Let us not forget, that we are but guests
In this world, where nature is the best
Let us cherish, let us preserve
This gift of nature, that we deserve

May we never again let greed and sin
Pollute the waters of our beloved kin
May Umkhrah be restored to its past glory
And let this be the beginning of its story

Let us come together, as one and all
To answer the river's sorrowful call
Let us not be deaf, to its voice of pain
Let us join hands, and wash away the stain

May the Umkhrah river, be once again
A symbol of love, and a paradise's domain
A place for broken souls to find solace
And a place for the nature's divine embrace

And as we leave, let us remember
To treat nature with love and care
For this world, is our only home
And we must cherish it, and let it roam.

Let us vow to treat the river with respect
And never let its beauty be again wrecked
Let us take action, and make it a pledge
To restore its purity, from its source to edge

May we learn from the river's journey
And let our hearts be filled with humility
May we learn to be responsible stewards
Of this earth, that has given us so much rewards

And as we bid adieu to our beloved river
Let us promise to always remember
That the Umkhrah, with all its might and grace
Deserves our love and care, in every place

For in the end, it is the memories we create
That will be remembered, for generations to date
May we leave behind a legacy of love
That will keep the Umkhrah, forever above

Let us thank the gods, above and below
For giving us the gift of nature's glow
May we learn to appreciate, and preserve
This beautiful earth, that we call our reserve

So, let us vow to always remember
The Umkhrah, our beloved river
May it always be a symbol of hope
And a place of solace, where we can cope.

Let us pledge to clean the river's flow
To restore its beauty, that we once know
For it's a reminder of our childhood
A place of comfort, that's so good

May we come together as one
To heal the Umkhrah, that's now gone
May we make it our mission and goal
To restore its purity, from pole to pole

May we stop the curse that we brought
And let the river's beauty be sought
May we become the river's protector
And save it from the sins of the destructor

May we plant trees along the banks
To restore the river's lost ranks
May we prevent the dumping of waste
And let the river flow with taste

May we clean up the filth that's left
And restore the river's lost cleft
May we become its humble servant
And let the river's beauty be vibrant

For the Umkhrah is our legacy
A place of love, and of heavenly
May we restore its grandeur
And let its beauty be our grandeur

Let us preserve the Umkhrah, for all to see
For it's our responsibility, and our duty
May we let the river flow with grace
And restore its glory, that's so ace

Let the Umkhrah be our guiding light
And let us make it our pledge and might
To restore its beauty, from head to toe
And let the Umkhrah's beauty, forever glow.
