Asphyxiated Reverie : Riddles in the Void

Within the womb, the gas flows dense and still
An asphyxiating tide, devoid of will
That steals the breath and plunges all to black
No torch will kindle, and no life come back
From deathly sleep in that enclosed space
Where even flames cannot find air to embrace
What hidden truths lie buried in the dark?
What deeper meanings churn beneath the stark
Reality of swift extinction here?

An ever-present shroud, the end draws near
For all who enter, yet outside persists
The thriving jungle, vividly exists
The vivid dance of life just out of reach
That taunts and tempts beyond the deadly breach
How cruel the disparity appears
Between the verdant trees and trailing spears
Of lush moss thriving in the sunlit days
And the cold tomb where no light filters haze

What thoughts consume the mind before it fails?
What dreams unfold as desperation wails?
And bids farewell to skies and songs above?
To empty futures devoid of hope or love?
Does revelation strike within the gloam
Of visions past the veil, before the doom?
Are mysteries unraveled for the dead?
Whose eyes will never open, whose breath has fled?
Does elucidation come when time's no more
Yet comprehension lives forevermore?

What truth escapes our grasp within this life?
What wisdoms lie obscured by joy and strife?
By restless noise that fills our waking days
That keeps us from the stillness of the haze?
Perhaps within the silence final rest
The answers come, in secret moments blest
When word and worry start to fade at last
And bigger meanings are unveiled so vast
Beyond the limits of our mortal minds
The wellspring where enlightenment one finds

So while we yet persist and hearts still beat
Our time, though short, is chance to grow complete
To look beyond the surface and discern
The deeper currents that within us churn
And draw us to the cradle of the grave
Where revelations wait for the bold and brave
Who seek within that void the source of truth
Beyond the zeal and impudence of youth
For when we stand upon the edge unknown
And face the dark unflinching and alone,
Perhaps our comprehension will unfold
And make us sages ere we grow too old.
