Season’s of Loss

You’ll hear your loved ones voice one day
Echoing through the trees -
Then turn to look, but all you’ll find
Are autumn’s falling leaves.

You’ll swear you sense their presence near
One night in winter’s air -
Search high and low about the snow
But you won’t find them there.

You’ll see their smile reflected then
In springtime flower’s bloom -
The sweet aroma draws you in
But they too, leave too soon.

You’ll feel their strength once summer’s day
As waves crash on the shore-
Emotions seem to ebb and flow
Deep as the ocean floor.

As season’s come and season’s go
Remember this, my friend -
Your loved one will live in your heart
Until you meet again…

I've yet to read a piece from you unworthy of accolade, Leslie. This brought me straight back to my Mother. Thank you for your gift.

I related a lot to this poem. I had a whole year of loss. 1 person a month. and I keep holding onto them in my heart. I see red canaries all the time and it tells me someone has come to visit and check on me. I can't wait for the day I get to see them again. Thank you for this amazing poem!
