I’m Tired

I wake up and I start my daily fight,
Maybe god gave me this illness out of spite.
I fight this fight every single day
I hope and pray for someone to take this pain away.

I hope and pray that one day I’ll be able to say i’m okay
And actually mean it maybe just maybe one day.
I’m tired of trying, of putting on a smile
So people don’t know what's going on inside my head.

This is my everyday life style,
Trying to hide from people by laying in my bed.
My bed of anxiety, my bed of depression.
Who made this bed for me because I wanna ask you a question.

Why, why do I need to go through this?
Why can’t I just be dismissed?
Dismissed from this torture, this overwhelming feeling
That i'm disappointing everyone that comes into my life.

This illness just keeps on stealing,
Every moment that I may want to enjoy.
I’m tired of lying, I’m tired of pretending
This illness it’s never-ending.

About this poem

I started struggling with anxiety from the young age of 8. I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder when I was 16. At the time I was writing this poem I was in my 5th high school in 5 months. I realized that writing really helped relieve the thoughts that would come flying through my head.
