No Kindness Left to Find

Chase Walker 1986 (Virginia Beach)

Walking by myself, trying to clear my mind
When life has proven hell, there’s no kindness left to find
Struggling to get by, it’s harder every day
Still, I wonder why, I search for a better way
Searching in wrong places, the only way I know
All these unfamiliar faces, only goes to show
Things I’ve done redundant, probably for best
Lack of common-sense abundant, survival’s daily test
A testing of my patience, patiently I wait
Waiting for impatience, to come and save the day
Shall I stand right up, whatever shall I do
Running on sheer luck, somewhere away with you
Still, I sit and wonder, how’d it come to this
When life gets taken under, how do I escape the abyss
In an abyss I’ve been trapped, an unrelenting feeling
When no one has my back, the thought alone unreeling
Losing all I had, to include my mind
Can’t be all that bad, with no kindness left to find
Kindness has no meaning, in a world that’s lackluster
I’m left alone careening, no more strength I can muster
Weakened from the madness, always that’s around
Eternally in sadness, when it’s darkness that’s abound
A walk that’s never-ending, dismay at every bend
A failed attempt at mending, when will my walking end
