I Need You?

Chase Walker 1986 (Virginia Beach)

Torn from the hinges, I’ve been broken before. Still, my body cringes. When will it cringe no more? Thoughts of you are all consuming. I can think of nothing else. Only fear and sadness looming, when I am left here by myself. You left me high and dry, the withdrawals damn near fatal. Now I’m left here wondering why. Other questions? I’ve a crateful. Why did I pick you up on that oh, so fateful day? Why can’t I give you up and turn and walk away? How would my life be now had I chose a different path? Would I be free from addiction and live a life that lasts? If only I could forget or turn back the hands of time, I wouldn’t be an addict forced into a life of crime. Unfortunately, that’s not plausible nor a probability. I only wish that it were possible. I’d be a better man, you’d see. So, until my very last day, the day I meet my grave, I’ve got one thing left to say to the master of the slaves.

“You need me as I need you.
Or maybe I just need to
give you up and leave you.
But when I try, I seem to
Go right back to needing you.
When I can’t stand to be with you.
What more is there for me to do.
Can we be through?
Do you need me, too?
Do I need you?”
