My First Love

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

Forgive me Father, for I have sinned,
In oh so many ways.
Without your mercy, grace and love,
I wouldn’t be here today.

I love the LORD; for he heard my voice.
He heard my cry for mercy.
Because he turned his ear to me,
I will go to him when I’m thirsty.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst,
For righteousness, says the LORD.
For they will surely be filled again;
And I’ll be their great reward.

Seal up the word; you’ll harden your heart.
Just find new ways to explore it.
Because when you do, you’ll find a hope that’s new
And the love that first made you adore it!
