Rewards Men Cannot Speak Of

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

I went up to the public pool to check it out today.
I only saw the things I knew and not the things I’d prayed.
I wanted to see the angel’s flaming chariots on the hills.
But all I found was darkness in the light; it gave me chills.

I saw a couple of boats while I was there upon the lake.
No One to make the water churn or cause the earth to shake.
I’m looking for my God, my Lover; tell me have you seen Him?
The thunder roared, they cleared the pool; the lightning made them fear Him!

(PAUSE)

I opened up my bible and I searched for the unknown.
The passages of Scripture to the prophets only shown.

So, they could entice their readers with the Lord’s unfailing love.
Like Matthew Ten verse forty-one, rewards men cannot speak of!
