Does the pain just melt away,
when all your bruises fade,
or do the thoughts and dreams that stay,
still haunt you in the shade?

Does the pain just melt away,
when all your scars have gone,
or does it linger every day,
while months and years drag on?

What can wash away your pain?
For still you bear the marks.
The wounds have healed but scars remain,
carved deep within your heart.

Does the pain just melt away....

About this poem

Written during a time in my life when I battled thoughts. I hope others can relate.
