Patience wins the game

Write your dreams upon a sheet,
And tie it to a kite.
Let it sail along the wind,
Into a starless night.
As the decades come and pass,
You'll find them once again.
Enshrined within the mighty clouds,
They'll fall down with the rain.

Keep your pennies in a jar,
Soon they'll make more cents.
One becomes five, five becomes ten,
You'll have a lot to spend.
Cast your crumbs upon the waves,
Watch them turn to loaves.
Spread your seeds across the plains,
Soon they'll turn to groves.

In a far and distant land,
Plant your flag and stake,
Soon enough you'll end up with,
A vast and mighty state.

Do not try to get rich quick,
And do not strive for fame.
For as we learned from ancient times,
Patience wins the game.

About this poem

One of my early poems. It speaks about the importance of patience. It's not how you begin the race, but how you end it.
