WHAT IS WOMAN?

Penman 1990 (Enugu state)

WHAT IS WOMAN?

What is woman that I've not seen?
What's woman that I've not known?
Accursed be here that tells me so
Howbeit that in my throne a king puppets

A woman without a man is like a rich farm soil
Without the feeling of roots
A beautiful woman without a man is a crab - overprotected by shells, selfish

The Python, seeking assurance
Of adulthood measures his length with the palm tree
Why would such a woman be man?

Had I but the power,
I should pour the sweet milk
The milk of Concord to hell
Uproar the universe peace
And confound all unity on earth.

About this poem

Man should not claim to be above all and right all the times. Unequivocally and hierarchically, equity; fairness, equal rights and justice is the key to any union or institution but must be engrossed with accurate understanding. Nobody is above the other in any relationship; equal right and justice. It the duty of the man to love and the duty of the woman to remain submissive. Submission is earned not taken. Understanding is sacrosanct for perfect unity.
