Not A Back That Is Turned

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

As a child I learned,
Not a back that is turned...
Will change what appears,
As facts known to see.
Any different than they were to be.

What people decide,
They will choose to do.
With a knowing of it done.
Intentionally.
If they lie to deceive,
To have their lies believed.
There is no need to resent,
What they do habitually.
Move on.

'What are you saying?'

About what?

'People who live their lives to lie.'

People who live their lives to lie are liars!

'Is that it?
Is that all?'

Why pretend what is known to be,
Is not what it is.
To be something else differently.
Tell me...
If you have a toothache,
How long will it take...
You to become convinced,
That ache you feel is fake and not real?

'Yeah.
But...
Someone who lies,
Done to intentionally tell others.
How do those others,
Eventually discover it?'

That?
I do not know.
However...
I do know this,
Once my toes are stepped on?
I am not one to go back,
To ask if the doing had been intentional.
That is something I will not ask,
Of a toe stepping on my foot liar!

'I...uh...
Nevermind!'

Remember...
Only you can prevent being deceived.
