An Ode to my Mother

Laura Dotson 1964 (Pittsburgh, Pa)

Black sheep am I
try, I will try
better,
write a letter.
Can't think, won't sink
in.

Words with invisible ink
smeared across empty pages
trying to explain
actions
louder.

Familiar faces
happy now
they accept
shades of gray.

About this poem
